Parenting Without Punishment Vol II

Welcome to the second issue of:

PARENTING WITHOUT PUNISHMENT

Your weekly resource for raising highly sensitive children

First, a pivot:
I had a whole newsletter about big feelings ready to send... and then after hearing stories from Thanksgiving, I realized there was a need to pivot.. (don't worry - BIG feelings are coming in the next issue!!) But for now - here's some help on recovering from Thanksgiving with your HSC (and it'll help you, too!)

EVERY weekly issue will have:

1. A RESOURCE REVIEW: Loads of info + my expertise put into the bite size bits you actually need to know (books, movies, podcasts, games, etc etc etc)

2. TRY IT OUT! A simple activity to bring these ideas alive! (Resources are only worth it if they make your daily life easier or more enjoyable, right?!)

3. MOON ABOUT IT: (Yup, totally made up that term, but I’m loving it) The week’s lunar energy may support (or challenge) your HSC; here you’ll find an invitation to reflect and tune in.

4. GUIDED MEDITATION: Quick and easy (even on the go) and something for all ages (littles, kids, teens, and adults) - just press play for the gift of PRESENCE with a new meditation every week.

✨ READY FOR THIS WEEK?!

LET'S DIVE IN! πŸ‘‡

πŸ“š Resource Review

Sacred Rest by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith explains that rest is more than just sleepβ€”it’s about renewing your energy in seven key areas: Physical Rest, Mental Rest, Emotional Rest, Social Rest, Sensory Rest, Creative Rest, and Spiritual Rest.

This is super helpful because your HSC needs a particular type of rest even (and especially) if it's not 'sleep' like we generally think about. After a day of unpredictable people and events, different foods, change in routine, increased socialization, potential masking, and potentially even feeling inferior, they need a freakin' break - but not all breaks are designed the same, right?

Read more about my take on Sacred Rest and how I EASILY incorporated in with my family.

🎬 Try it out!

Make a list of things that help recoup energy - either with your child, for yourself, with your whole family, or any combination! Keep is EASY - it's just a start, noone's getting it tattooed yet ;)

πŸŒ’ Moon about it

NEW MOON SOON!! Woohoo!! Perfect timing - remember that list you made of things that recoup energy?! Make some extra time for those this week - and keep adding to that list as much as you can.

πŸͺ· Guided meditation

This one's for the adult's... (but can definitely work for kids, too) Know what you're doing is a guided meditation to help you make that 2 minute break feel like 2 hours of rest (YES, that's EXACTLY what we all need right now)
